The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) is targeting at least 300 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for the inaugural Zomba SME Fair and Farmers’ Market.
The fair is aimed at connecting and supporting SMEs, according to MCCCI Director of Membership Development Wezi Mungoni.
The fair will take place from September 27 to 28 at Gymkhana Club under the theme ‘Supporting Local Businesses, Enhancing Economic Growth’.
“We aim to have a diverse range of participants to showcase the robust potential across all sectors of our economy,” Mungoni said.
She said the event will provide a platform to strengthen and promote links between businesses and financial services, and expand business opportunities through new partnerships and collaborations.
“Trade promotion aligns perfectly with our objective to give businesses the platform to exhibit their products and interact with clients. Companies in various sectors that work closely with SMEs are encouraged to take advantage of this platform to interact with SMEs and understand their needs,” Mungoni added.
The Zomba fair is coming weeks after the 20th National Agriculture Fair, which MCCCI hosted in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, where trade deals worth over K900 million were sealed.
